Öcalan explains his peace and democracy initiative as a necessary new phase of the same revolutionary struggle for cultural and political self-determination, women’s liberation, ecology, and radical democracy – with other means. These inspired intense, lively and controversial debates in political, intellectual and all social spheres internationally.
We intend to establish a research commune comprised of individuals who are committed to exploring specific aspects of Öcalan’s peace concept and undertaking a comprehensive examination of his writings and to implement various forms of communication to facilitate a systematic analysis.
Overview: Our Goals
- To deeply explore Öcalan’s peace approach and its chances, and to clarify the grounding terms and the details of its principles and theoretical concepts.
- To compare Öcalan’s peace approach to other existing peace approaches: theories of peace through autonomy, the dominant theory of ‘liberal peace’, but also critical peace concepts, including those of indigenous, feminist, peace and other movements.
- To analyze the implementation of Öcalan’s peace concept in Turkey and other regions of the Middle East.
